“Revealing the Legacy of Black Communities in Fairfax County” highlights previously vibrant local Black communities that were forever changed through racial, economic, political, and bureaucratic factors. Local authors Marion Dobbins and Tom Shoop will each present their books and will be joined by moderator Amini Bonane for further exploration and discussion of this fascinating local history. Book purchases and signing of “The Lost Black Communities: Merrifield, the Pines and Williamstown” and “A Place Called Ilda: Race and Resilience in a Northern Virginia Crossroads” will follow.
