Congratulations to our very own Fairfax Museum and Visitors Center for being accepted into the Virginia History Affiliates Program sponsored by the Virginia Museum of History and Culture! According to their website:

This professional museum collective is designed to connect historical sites, history museums, and related institutions of all sizes from across the Commonwealth, with particular focus on local and regional history organizations. Organized and funded by the Virginia Museum of History & Culture as part of its investment in commemorating America’s 250th, the program represents a multi-million-dollar, long-term commitment to strengthening history work happening in communities throughout Virginia.

Virginia History Affiliates will provide robust educational tools and resources, facilitate collections sharing and stewardship, encourage broad promotion and awareness building, offer timely financial resources, and inspire other forms of organizational partnership.

This important program unlocks opportunities for the Fairfax Museum like traveling exhibitions produced by the VMHC, public programming opportunities, and educational activations and resources. Through this network of local museum affiliates, the Museum may also benefit from object loans for new exhibitions and grants to fund future activities.
